Celebrating the SCA NSW Awards 2024

The strata management industry in New South Wales has recently recognised two of our outstanding strata managers, Faye Tang and Tammy Dunn, for their exemplary service and leadership at the recent SCA NSW Awards.

In addition, we at Strata Plus are proud to have won the Environmental, Social and Community Impact Award for the second consecutive year. This award acknowledges our ongoing efforts to broaden our operational scope, ensure a responsible supply chain, and embed shared value principles within our core operations.

Faye Tang
SCA NSW Senior Strata Manager of the Year 2024

Faye Tang’s recognition of Senior Strata Manager of the Year highlights her exceptional skills and contributions to the industry.

With a Class 1 license, a Bachelor of Business, and a Masters in Financial Management, Faye, who has also achieved Fellow Status with SCA, brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Her fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese further enhances her ability to manage some of the most complex developments in NSW, bridging cultural and linguistic gaps in the diverse Australian property landscape.

Joining Strata Plus in 2018, Faye quickly established herself as a valuable asset to the team. Her promotion to Team Leader in 2022 speaks volumes about her leadership qualities and commitment to nurturing the next generation of strata managers.

Her well-rounded approach to strata management, high level of expertise in financial management, quick and knowledgeable responses and clear governance in all strata matters, has contributed to her receiving this prestigious award.

Tammy Dunn
SCA NSW Strata Manager of the Year 2024

Tammy Dunn’s win as SCA NSW Strata Manager of the Year reflects her extensive experience and dedication to the field. As a third-generation strata manager, Tammy entered the sector in 2008, bringing a rich family legacy. Tammy’s father, Alastair Dunn, owned and managed Dunns’ Strata before retiring in 2020.

Tammy’s portfolio is diverse, including residential, retail, and commercial properties ranging from 3 to 105 lots. Her expertise extends to managing Building Management Committees (BMCs) operating within the Strata Management Statements (SMS) framework, showcasing her versatility in handling complex strata arrangements.

Tammy’s approach to strata management, characterised by proactive problem-solving, effective communication, and a genuine commitment to her clients’ well-being, sets a high standard in the industry.

Her recent award is a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional skills in managing issues such as complex negotiations on behalf of owner corporations and her dedication to excellence in strata management.

Her win as Strata Manager of the Year underscores the positive impact she has made in the lives of strata residents and property owners, some of which she has managed for over ten years.

Strata Plus
SCA NSW Environmental, Social and Community Impact Award 2024

Strata Plus was also honoured to receive the Environmental, Social, and Community Impact Award for the second year in a row, recognising our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility in the strata management sector.

Our initiatives have addressed modern slavery risks in our supply chain, particularly in high-risk areas like cleaning and security services. We implemented a Voluntary Modern Slavery Statement, which included risk assessments, staff training, and contractor pre-qualification processes.

We’ve supported sustainable communities proactively by providing educational resources, expert webinars, and assistance in drafting motions for sustainability initiatives. Our collaborations with councils, NABERS, Sydney Water, and private consultants have facilitated our clients’ access to information, funding, and grants.

The impact of our efforts is evident in the increased uptake of sustainability measures, such as energy and water efficiency upgrades and lighting improvements, among the strata communities we manage.

Our ‘paperless’ campaign for levies and notices has already seen more than 2000 clients switch to digital communications since January 2024, supporting cost reduction and environmental sustainability.

In addition to these initiatives, we’ve made significant strides in social responsibility. We’ve implemented our second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), partnering with local Aboriginal community organisations to provide support and resources.

We believe our comprehensive approach to strata management, encompassing ethical practices, sustainability, and community engagement, sets a new standard for the industry.

We’re proud to reinforce our position as a forward-thinking and socially conscious strata management company, and we remain dedicated to creating positive change in our industry and communities.

In addition to the above awards, Strata Plus was a finalist in the Large Strata Community Management Business category, and another of our strata managers, Matthew Mayberry, was also a finalist for Strata Community Manager of the Year.

As the strata sector continues to evolve and face new challenges, professionals like Faye and Tammy play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of strata schemes and enhancing residents’ living experiences.
